  1. I work in the field of viral research. Following the rabbit hole of the information minefield that Al Gore personally invented. :-) I had not realized that this man was so important for the development of modern treatment for HIV. He was the first to produce AZT and ddc in the 60s. Later these cancer treatment drugs were also used to treat HIV. Great to know that discoveries made years ago get pulled out of a dusty old shelf of an apparently obscure manner and offered up for applications later. RIP Dr. Horwitz
