  1. Dr. Dickason's research continues to influence the course of scholarship in many fields. One of these is the current interdisciplinary focus on early modern travel writing. Her studies of French-Amerindian trade have led to new readings of French travelers to the New World, opening their works to close readings that rely more on literary analysis than on historical accuracy. Dr. Dickason succeeded in bridging the gap between history as a social science and history as humanities. She will be sorely missed.
