  1. Brad, I'm not sure if you knew Derek, his music, and /or what attracted you to him, but you have chosen a very special man to highlight, to make note his passing.

He was a brilliant friend and artist. He embodied light, hope, and laughter, with a true understanding of the human condition. He is sorely missed, and mourned by many.

It is a testament to him that when we heard he was ill, the community rallied 'round to support him, but there were also people from places like England, Hawaii, New Mexico, and other states across the US, found their way to our little Island in western WA. Letters, email and phone calls came in, sharing stories, love and heartfelt hope, often tempered with a realistic fear of impending loss.

We heard his prognosis, but the cancer's progression was so much faster than the MDs ever predicted. The time we had to say goodbye was way too short for us who are left here on this planet. I miss him so incredibly much.

Derek Parrott's website is still a work in progress; I encourage you, and others, to stop by to listen to his music and hear his stories. We will be adding to this site to share music not on his CDs, including live performances, stories he told, as well as photos and hopefully video clips. He's that special.
