Warren was one of the kindest, smartest guys I've ever known, and a true lover of life in the biggest way. He was one of the last of the great hippie engineers, someone who could listen seriously to your wildest idea, and come up with an amazingly sober assessment, even if it was to guide you gently to plan B.
Warren was so deeply rooted here, and such a solid and ubiquitous presence, it's just impossible for me to imagine him really gone.
He'd love the fact that his world was so wide, I had to hear about his passing from a friend in Scotland. He'd be tickled by that, and he was one of the easiest people to tickle I ever met. I guess that will have to console me on this gray Seattle morning.
RIP, Warren, there'll always be a tune for you here.
